My New Poetry Book is Live on Kindle!

That's right!

~drum roll~

"Cats, Daffodils & Dragonflies: Mystical Nature Poems (1987-2005)" just went live and ON SALE in Kindle.

Woot!

Most readers know me as a kinky Fey chick and a best-selling Pagan erotica novelist.  But for 18 years I was also a successful small press literary poet.  My poems appeared in over 1000 literary magazines worldwide, and my resume of awards is over 80 pages long.  In 2005 my poetry book "The Year of the Cat" was nominated for the "Pulitzer Prize."

Even though my fiction is erotic, my poetry was not.  Instead I wrote empowering, mystical nature poetry for readers of all faiths (Pagans, Christians, Catholics, Buddhists, Taoists, New Age, etc.).

Yeah, my spiritual side realllllllly comes out in my poetry.  You'll definitely see the Forest Fey chick in this book. ~wink~

Creating "Cats, Daffodils & Dragonflies" has been a major goal of mine, and I'm thrilled to have finally achieved it.

Here's why.  "The Year of the Cat" went out of print in 2009.  That book was the last of my poetry books still in print.  Most poetry book publishers print one run in paperback.  When it sells out, the book goes out of print.

I knew I needed to gather all the out-of-print books into one big volume of Collected Poems in ebook.  I just didn't know when that would happen.  What can I say?  The SexWitch is so freakin busy!  ~lol~

But this year fans of my sexy novels kept googling me, finding my poems, and asking about a book of poetry.  Eeeek!

So here it is.  "Cats, Daffodils & Dragonflies" contains over 250 pages of poems from the best of my out-of-print poetry books.

Without a doubt, this book is very mystical, very empowering, verrrrrry special.  And dontcha love the cover?  As usual, Alex did an awesome job.

Okay, I'm outta here.  Enjoy an excerpt from this amazing book.

Happy reading!!!

THINKING ABOUT A FRIEND
ON THE LAST DAY OF SUMMER

At daybreak, after the rains
have passed, the mockingbird,
meadowlark, and crow create
a canticle of praise from the
high limbs of white pines and
scrub oaks.  Even the toad,
tucked beneath stars of ivy,
bangs his rusty drum.  The sky
is as blue as a thistle, and the
cat dances across the room,
while a friend of mine tires
easily, drowning in a thirst for
endless facts and scientific
proof.  And the sparrow cries:
Simplify, simplify; let us pray
the liturgy of nature.
  Later,
I stop for a street sign, as a
ladybug creeps across the
windshield, balanced on the
dark bristles of her feet.  She
pauses for two sips from a
rainbead, then cracks her round
red shoulders and floats away,
curling like a wisp of rosy
smoke against the blank page
of a Monday.  What if my
friend were to greet the day
like a poet, to awaken each
morning and allow his soul to
flap against the sky like a fresh
sheet on a clothesline or the
yellow wings of a sulphur
butterfly?  What if he were to
notice that the day is as blue
as a thistle, and the cat is
dancing across the room?
Then he might close his eyes,
breathe deeply the soft feathers
of morning air, and learn to fly.

FINDING MY CENTER

In a week of butterflies
and hummingbirds
I apologize if my lips
seem cool and distant,
no longer satisfied with
where and what and
when.  Tell me my life
was never meant to be
a weary river, but rather
the rush of wind and
sky and sand.  Let me
stand with the blackbird
beneath the white cap
of the sun, let my heart
chant leafy tunes, let
my arms salute the stars
like a chickadee's wings,
let my feet root among
lichens and wintergreen:
whole, still, complete.

BAPTISM OF LOVE

Tuesday, midmorning, the
November sky is as still
and blue as a summer pond
with only a smudge of white
in the corner, that stubborn
full moon.  Poplars, silent
and flame-tipped, lick the sky,
as a blue jay toddles across
the street on the petals of
his feet to sip from a puddle
of rainwater.  When I close
my eyes I am leaf-spore and
moss; I am a scallop shell
beneath the tide, curling
back and forth at the shore-
line of life; I am the amen
of love and plenty, the one
who simply opened the door
and welcomed them in.
Crows rise like incense from
the blue altar of the sky,
while waves of divine love
splatter the day, teaching
me that giving and receiving
are the same.  For some
an occasional splash of holy
water is enough.  For the
rest of us, only the daily
catechism of an ocean will
do, that insatiable craving to
be swept away, swept away.

  1. Mine, mine, mine! (Robin D. Owned in the Celta series early on established that if a cat touched and said mine three times that they would find a bar in for it. :-)

I have purchased it, don't know if Miss Dottie will sit and listen to like beautiful Valkyrie did, but i will try. :-) (I just think Valkyrie loved me more!) And Tyr won't stop talking long enough to hear me. Lol. My kids..... Now the Chihauhau may lay there since it means he doesn't have to do anything!

Thank you and have a great day!
