Healed by Cheesecake. Who knew?

After four months of constant pain in my lower back from swollen tendons and muscles, which continually pulled my back out of line in two places (lower back and middle back), I finally know the root cause of this mess.

Hallelujah!

Turns out I was right about one thing: the cause is my old nemesis, a severe allergic sensitivity to wheat.  But I was wrong about the effect: it's not tendonitis.

How did I finally solve this mystery?  A few weeks ago I decided to attack this constant pain and get rid of it once and for all.  Grrrr!

I researched tendonitis, discovered I needed to eat an anti-inflammatory diet, changed my diet, found lots of anti-inflammatory herbs to take, and immediately felt better.  I started healing slowly and consistently, instead of two steps forward, one step back, etc.

Then last week a friend gave me a 10-pound strawberry cheesecake to celebrate the publication of my new poetry book (Cats, Daffodils & Dragonflies).

Sometimes friends and fans give me dessert gifts (usually on Yule or my birthday).  I don't do sweets, so I eat a tiny bit and then pass it on to one of my guy friends.  ~lol~

That's exactly what I did.  I ate a little and planned to give the rest away.  But an hour later a strange thing happened.  All the pain in my back disappeared, and I had more movement than I've had in months.

Huh?

White sugar and dairy are the WORST of inflammatory foods and terrible for tendonitis.  It should have made me feel worse rather than better, which is another reason why I only ate a little bit.  Instead it accelerated my healing, and I felt much better the next day.

Huh?

Okay, maybe this was a fluke.  Maybe I should test it again to be sure.  The Healer in me tends to use my bod as a guinea pig so I ate a bit more.  Same results.  No pain like it was supposed to give me.  But lots of pain-relief and healing like it wasn't supposed to give me.

Know what?  I ate the whole cheesecake over the next 3 days, and the rate of healing was amazing.

WTF????

It totally boggled my mind.  It wasn't the protein.  I eat plenty of that every day.  It wasn't the calcium.  I drink tons of organic milk every day.  It wasn't the sugar or the strawberries.  What was the mystery element in this strawberry cheesecake that was giving me rapid healing?

I had no idea.

Then a few days later I went out to dinner and had cream spinach nachos smothered in lots of mozzarella cheese.  An hour later I experienced the same kind of rapid healing.

Huh?

Cheese is awful for tendonitis!  Yet it was healing me, too.  So I began to wonder what cheesecake and white cheese have in common.  WTH is going on here?

After a few days it finally dawned on me.

The wheat sensitivity burns my tissues from the inside.  It first attacked me in the summer of 2009.  My lips started burning and swelling.  The funny thing is everyone complimented me cause it looked really sexy, like I'd had collagen injections.  But the truth is it hurt like hell.  No blisters on the outside, but definitely blisters inside those swollen tissues.  A few months later I discovered wheat was doing it.  I eliminated it from my diet, and my lips returned to normal.

Then in 2010 all the stress from the exagent mess kicked the lactose intolerance that runs in my family.  I'd never had a problem with it before.  But that was a HIGH stress period for me so I wasn't surprised.  I found digestive pills I liked, and that issue was solved.  Those pills also helped me digest grasses...like wheat.  I found I could eat organic wheat, and I was okay.  No burns.  Cool!

In 2011, I got to the point where I could eat (or so I thought) bread off the shelf, which is non-organic (GMO) wheat.  A few months later (the end of January 2012) I developed tendonitis in my back (or so I thought).  After eliminating a few things I realized it was that wheat allergy/sensitivity, and I eliminated it from diet.

However, I couldn't seem to heal 100% this time.  Something was preventing those tendons and muscles from healing completely.  But for some bizarre reason white cheese and cheesecake were finally doing that for me.

Huh?

Then it dawned on me.  I never had tendonitis.  I actually have large areas of internal burns inside those muscles and tendons in my back.

Yikes!

Okay, how do I fix this?  What soothes and heals a burn?  Salve.  And when you burn yourself in the kitchen what do you grab?  Butter....which is just milk fat.

Bingo!!!

The high concentration of milk fat in cheesecake and white cheese is actually soothing and healing the burns in my back.

Too cool!

I'm also doing a few other things to heal my back, cause I wanna make sure this never happens again.  I'll talk more about that in my next blog post.

As for book news, I'm working on the final edit of Chapter 7 of the new vamp novel right now.  WOW!  This one is my hottest yet.  You're gonna love it!  Troy and Ravenmoon are definitely burning up my computer.  ~sex obsessed wink~  I'm having soooooo much fun editing this one.  I'm going really slow on it, but enjoying every minute of it.

Also, my Blog Talk Radio interview with Kat Holmes on her "Kat's Writing Pen" show aired on April 27 and was a blast!  I've already listed it in the "Online Radio Interviews" section of this blog (look for the tab at the top of this page).

This is what one of my friends on Pagan-Place said after she listened to it:

"I've listened to your interview and, aside from being able to put a voice with the messages on PP, I was absolutely blown away. I wasn't aware of the extent of your writing. I will be investing in several of your books in the very near future. You are a strong and fascinating personality and such a sweet, sweet spirit. I'm praying that the God and Goddess continue to bless you!  I just wanted to let you know that you have my deepest admiration."  ~~C.

Isn't that sweet?  I truly have the BEST fans.  Just like all of you!!  ~many SexWitch kisses~

Kat and I (and her mom) had major fun, talking about Paganism, erotica, sex, smutty novels, the literary market vs. the genre market, my new books coming out, you name it!  And, yes, chatty Fey chick that I am, I talked non-stop for 30 minutes.  I did!  Here's the link in case you missed it:

So it looks like the SexWitch has discovered the healing properties of strawberry cheesecake and white cheese.  Who knew?

Of course, it would've been more fun if Michael had licked some of that cheesecake off my nipples and cute little bod.

Wait a minute.  That's a great idea!  I should get another one so he can do that....

~dashes off to buy a strawberry cheesecake for naughty purposes~

    1. Isn't that wild? For 4 months I've been trying to figure this thing out. Then the Fey make sure I receive a big cheesecake and BINGO! Mystery solved. I've been eating mozzarella cheese every day but had cheesecake tonight (as you know), and my back made another giant leap in healing tonight. No pain whatsoever. Am I lucky woman or what? lmao!!

I'm so flattered you're gonna get the poetry book. Woot! You will just love it. Now that I know a bit more about what you have been through the last year you're gonna squeeeeeeee over how empowering it is.

    1. Carol, you're cracking me up!!!! Guess what? I bought another cheesecake today. A small one. And I've already eaten half of it. lmao!!!

Good news...my back feels so good I can start running again tomorrow. I have missed it so much cause I had to take a month off. Yikes! More good news. I have gained 5 pounds with all the cheesecake and white cheese hogging out I've done in the last month. Looking forward to running that off. I know tight jeans are sexy but I'd much rather have them loose and easy to strip off for you know who. ~wink~

      Love you!!!! xoxoxo

    1. Thanks, foxy!!! I'm to the point now where I'm just eating the mozzarella cheese and it's working its miracles on me. I'm not a sugar chick so even though the cheesecake is tasty I don't like putting that kind of sugar into my bod in huge amounts. Eeeeek!

However I started running last night, and this morning my back feels better than ever. Woot! So that means the running is doing what I hoped it would...flooding those healing tendons and muscles with blood to help them heal even faster. If you're on Twitter you saw me tweeting how good it felt to be running again. Damn, I missed it!!! It was torture to have to give up my running addiction for a month. But no more. Yay!!!!

Love you and thanks for posting. When I'm ready to go for another cheesecake I will definitely send you a message. You ROCK!!!

  4. I knew there was a good reason I love cheesecake. Although when I make it I use 8 oz of each kind of cream cheese. Full fat, low fat, and no fat. Even so though, I love it. I think I will make one this afternoon or maybe tomorrow. Drooling.
